Cambodia eVisa for Venezuelan Citizens

Cambodia has seen an impressive increase in tourism arrivals in recent years, thanks to its stunning landscapes, ancient temples, and welcoming culture, very appreciated by international passengers from all over the world, including nationals from Venezuela.

In that sense, the government of Cambodia has launched a series of initiatives aimed at encouraging international travel, among which there is a new electronic visa (eVisa) to visit Cambodia, available to Venezuelan citizens through a simple online application.

Cambodia Visa Requirements for Venezuelan Passport Holders

Venezuelan nationals who want to travel to Cambodia must be aware that they need to meet several Cambodian electronic visa requirements and gather different documents before submitting the application. These include:

  • Valid Venezuelan passport (with at least 6 months validity from the date of entry into the country)
  • Copy of the information page of the passport in high resolution
  • Passport-style photograph from head to shoulders with white background
  • Current email address to which the confirmation email and granted visa will be sent
  • Credit or debit card to proceed with the visa fee payment

It is recommended that Venezuelan travelers provide a yellow fever certificate as well as a certificate for other vaccinations such as polio, tetanus, diphtheria, or measles as these may be requested at the port of entry by the Cambodian immigration authorities. Other health-related items to enter Cambodia may apply.

Cambodia’s ports of entry that allow Venezuelans holding an eVisa

Currently, a number of air and land Cambodian entry points can be used to access the country with an eVisa from Venezuela:

Via air:

  • Phnom Penh International Airport
  • Siem Reap International Airport
  • Sihanoukville International Airport

Via land:

  • Cham Yeam – Koh Kong province (from Thailand)
  • Poi Pet – Banteay Meanchey province (from Thailand)
  • Bavet – Svay Rieng province (from Vietnam)
  • Tropaeng Kreal Border Post (Stung Treng)

It is not possible to enter via sea with this type of visa. In case the traveler from Venezuela needs to use a port of entry not listed above, it will be necessary to apply for a different type of visa.

How to Obtain a Cambodian Visa From Venezuela

It is highly recommended for Venezuelans to apply for the online version of the Cambodia visa at least 4 days before the departure date in order to ensure that the visa is issued with no delays.

Venezuelan passport holders traveling to Cambodia can submit the visa application online from anywhere in the world and using any device that can connect to the internet.

During the application process, travelers need to provide information regarding their personal and passport details. This information covers, for example, the Venezuelan visitor’s full name as shown on passport and their passport number, including both numbers and letters (if applicable). A scanned passport copy and the photograph must also be uploaded.

If all the information provided is correct and accurate, and the payment has been successfully completed, Venezuelan applicants will receive a confirmation email containing a transaction ID and information regarding the status of the application.

After up to 4 business days, they will also receive the confirmed and approved eVisa directly in their inbox.

It is recommended to print the document in order for Venezuelans to present it at the immigration bureau at the moment of arriving in Cambodia.

Venezuelan citizens must know that possessing an approved e-Visa does not guarantee entry as the final decision belongs to the Cambodian border control officers. Should they find discrepancies between the eVisa and the passport, they may deny the traveler access.

What Types of Cambodian Visas Are Available to Venezuelans?

Currently, the Cambodia tourist eVisa is valid for 3 consecutive months and allows for a stay of up to 30 days. If the visitor from Venezuela remains in the country beyond this time or carries out activities not related to the purpose of the visa, they may be subject to penalties and fines according to the immigration laws of Cambodia.

In case the purpose of travel is not tourism or the Venezuelan citizen needs to stay for longer than 30 days, there are other types of Cambodia visas available such as:

  • Business visa
  • Retirement visa
  • Student visa

For these types of visas, it is not possible to apply online and Venezuelans will need to submit a request directly at the nearest Cambodian embassy or consulate as the procedure is quite long and more documents are needed.

A visa on arrival to access Cambodia is still available, however, it is often more inconvenient as queues at the airport can be very long. Moreover, applicants from Venezuela must bring the relevant document and the exact visa fee in cash to the border.
