Cambodia Visa for Russian Citizens
Southeast Asia is a popular destination for the traveler who wants it all: culture, prehistoric sites, unique food, relaxation, and city breaks. Cambodia has all of this and more.
The capital, Phnom Penh, is home to must-see attractions like the art deco Central Market. Located in the northwest area of the country are the ancient stone temple ruins of Angkor Wat. The beaches along the Gulf of Thailand offer an escape from the hot weather and a chance to check out the unique nightlife.
As a Russian citizen, there are two options for acquiring a visa. A visa on arrival is just as it sounds. It must be picked up at one of Cambodia’s entry point. Not only do vacationers have to travel with the appropriate documentation but there is also a good chance they will wait in long lines at the border.
While a visa on arrival is a possible option, a Cambodian online visa for Russians is the preferred method. Russian passport holders are able to apply for and receive a tourist visa completely online.
Documents Needed As a Russian Passport Holder
Before starting the application, ensure that all requirements are met. This will make the simple process that much easier.
The documents required for a Cambodia visa for Russian passport holders are as follows:
- Valid passport: All passports must be valid for six months after arrival date and have blank pages for stamps
- Passport details: Expiration date, number, etc.
- Digital photos: It is required that all applicants submit a digital (JPEG or PNG) passport size picture (more details on this below)
- Personal information: Full name, date of birth, etc.
- Email address: This is where the eVisa will be sent
- Purpose of visit: Provide accommodation details as well as travel dates
- Credit or debit card
Additionally, there are separate requirements for the visa photograph. These include:
- The photo should be recent and have been taken within the last 6 months
- The face must remain neutral, do not smile
- Eyes have to be open
- The background must be white
- The applicant’s face and shoulders have to be visible
- Shoulders and face have to be positioned straight on and not angled
- The photograph must be in full color
Applicants are occasionally asked to provide additional material. This would include health information and/or details about his or her finances. In the case that this happens, it is recommended to have these details ready for the application procedure.
Approvals are processed quicker when everything is submitted the first time, at once. However, if some personal details need to be added at a later date, this is possible.
Diplomatic & Official Passports from the Russian Federation
Cambodia does exempt certain nationalities of visas if they have diplomatic passports. The travelers using these passports are often visiting a country on official government business.
Russian citizens who are diplomatic or official passport holders have a visa exemption. This means these citizens can legally enter Cambodia without a visa.
Apply Online As a Russian Citizen
Applying for a Cambodian eVisa from the Russian Federation is easy and straightforward. The Cambodian eVisa is designed to eliminate the stress of acquiring a visa upon arrival.
In just a few steps citizens of the Russian Federation can fill in the information, pay the visa fee, and receive confirmation. It takes only about 10 minutes to complete the entire online application.
It is important that supporting documentation is given with the application submission. This ensures travelers obtain their visa as quickly as possible. Once all the necessary information and the fee are collected the eVisa will be sent to the email provided.
Average approval time varies slightly. On average, approvals are sent within 3 business days. Sometimes visas are approved as soon as 24 hours after the application is submitted.
However, delays do happen. In the case of a delay, a visa might take up to 5 days. Therefore, it is important for travelers to apply for a tourist visa at least one week before their arrival in Cambodia.
Once travelers have an approved visa, they have up to three months from the issue date to use the visa. Each vacationer is allowed a 30-day stay in the country. If a traveler wishes to prolong his or her stay, there is an option of extending the visa for an additional 30 days.
FAQ for Russian Citizens
The Cambodian eVisa allows Russian citizens entry into the country for tourism purposes only. It does not permit holders to seek employment or work full time for a Cambodian organization during their visit.
In order to visit the country for business purposes, applicants must instead acquire an E-Class visa. If they plan to gain work whilst in the country they should also attain a valid work permit and employment card issued by the Ministry of Labor and Vocational training.
Russian tourists may also enter the country with a Visa on Arrival in addition to an eVisa. In order to attain this document visitors must queue upon arrival and apply for the visa in person.
This is often a slower process than holding a pre-approved eVisa. In order to be given access to the country, Russians seeking entry to a Cambodian port of entry with a Visa on Arrival must meet all the requirements for their nationality at the time of entrance or they will be denied passage into the country.
