Visa Requirements for Hong Kong Passports

Tourism in Cambodia has been increasing in the last few years. Close on 6 million travelers each year now enjoy the beautiful beaches, interesting temples and rich cultural experiences on offer in this fascinating country.

Most tourists, however, including those from Hong Kong, require a valid visa in order to travel to Cambodia.

Thankfully, the process of applying for a Cambodia e-Visa for Hong Kong passport holders is a simple one. With the Cambodian e-Visa for Hong Kong citizens allowing travelers to enter the country for up to 30 days from the day of entry.

For longer stays, travelers can apply for a 30-day visa extension once in the country, allowing for a total of 60 days travel.

The Cambodian e-Visa application process is a simple one that takes less than half an hour to complete from any computer or laptop with an internet connection.

List of visa requirements for Hong Kong citizens:

  • One Cambodian e-Visa application form
  • A valid Hong Kong passport, valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Cambodia
  • A recent passport-sized digital photo, in .png or .jpg format
  • Online payment of the application fee via credit or debit card
  • A valid email address where the e-Visa can be sent to after processing

Cambodian e-Visa Application Process as a Hong Kong Citizen

While the process generally takes between one and three days from application to issue, travelers are advised to apply for the Cambodian online e-Visa at least 4 working days before the proposed date of travel.

The process begins with the completion of an online application form, which takes between 10 and 15 minutes to complete, and requires basic information such as the applicant’s name and address, passport information such as date of birth, passport number and passport expiry date, and details regarding the reason for travel.

It should be noted that each applicant’s passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the intended date of arrival in Cambodia.

A recent full-color digital passport photograph will also be required. This can be supplied in either .png or .jpg format and should be taken against a white background, with the applicant facing forward with both eyes open.

To proceed with the application, secure online payment by credit or debit card is required.

Whilst most visa applications by Hong Kong citizens are approved without delay, in rare cases, the embassy may make contact to ask for supporting documentation. Such documentation may include information related to health (immunization and vaccination details) or information related to finances (for example a recent bank statement or a letter from an employer). It is therefore advisable to have this information on hand should it be required.

Once issued, the e-Visa is linked to your passport, however, a copy is also sent to the email address provided in the application. This copy should be printed as a backup copy should the immigration officer at your port of entry require it.

All travelers to Cambodia should be aware that several visa types exist, and it is important that travelers apply for the category of visa that best suits the intention of their visit. If the purpose of your trip to Cambodia is not related to tourism, you will be required to apply for one of the following visa types:

Ports of Entry

Most tourists visiting Cambodia will enter via one of the country’s three international airports:

  • Phnom Penh International Airport
  • Siem Riep International Airport
  • Sihanoukville International Airport

Overland travel from neighboring states is also possible via the following ports of entry:

  • Thailand: Cham Yeam – Koh Kong
  • Thailand: Poi Pet – Banteay Meanchey
  • Vietnam: Bavet – Svay Rieng
  • Laos: Tropaeng Kreal Border Post

It is not possible for holders of the tourist e-Visa to enter Cambodia via one of the country’s seaports.
