Most cruise companies allow travelers to purchase a ticket without having to apply for a visa beforehand. Passengers who wish to obtain the visa on their own should get in touch with the cruise company of their choice beforehand .
Currently, the online visa for Cambodia is only available to travelers who enter the country via land or air. The visa may be extended to cruise passengers in the future.
As the name suggests, a visa on arrival is a permit that can only be applied for once the traveler has reached the border. This means that it is not possible to apply for a visa on arrival from the Netherlands.
However, Dutch citizens are allowed to apply for a visa on arrival once they reach Cambodia (at an international airport or other eligible border crossing point).
Travelers should note that the visa on arrival may result in longer waiting times at the border. That is because foreigners are required to queue at the immigration desk and submit their application on the spot. They need to bring the relevant documents with them (including photographs if applicable) as well as the application fee in cash.
For this reason, many travelers prefer to apply for an online visa instead. This can be done from the comfort of their home prior to departure.
There is an application fee attached to the online visa for Cambodia. This means that the visa is not free.
However, the online visa is one of the most inexpensive permits thanks to the electronic application process. Once the application form is completed and all the supporting documents are submitted, the applicant is required to make an online payment before the visa request can be processed.
Travelers can decide to hire specialized agencies to assist in their visa application. This is because missing or inaccurate information can result in the application being delayed or denied altogether. If an application is rejected, the traveler must submit a new request and pay for it in full. Agencies can help the applicant make sure that all information and supporting documents are in order and usually charge a service fee.
