Cambodia eVisa Requirements for the Dominican Republic
A whopping 6 million tourists visit Cambodia every year. This is why the Cambodian government introduced an electronic visa program in 2006, known as the Cambodia eVisa, which facilitates applying and obtaining a travel authorization to visit the country.
This online travel permit scheme enables citizens from the Dominican Republic, along with nationals of many other countries, to apply via an online form, without the need to visit diplomatic missions or to gather printed documents to an immigration office.
The process is effortless and simple for Dominican Republic passport holders since it only takes around 10 minutes to complete.
How to Visit Cambodia With an eVisa From the Dominican Republic
In accordance with the regulations and visa entry requirements stated by the Cambodian government, a national from the Dominican Republic must meet a set of criteria in order to successfully apply for an online eVisa.
The following is a series of documents and personal details that must be provided when applying from the Dominican Republic.
A valid DR passport
The traveler needs to hold a genuine Dominican passport, which must be lawful and valid for a minimum of 6 months at the time of applying for the Cambodian e-Visa.
A copy of the passport’s biographical page
A photocopy or scanned image of the biographical page of the original passport must also be provided by Dominicans. All personal information, including the passport photo, must be visible.
A passport-size photograph
A passport-sized photograph is also needed. The picture must distinctly show the head and shoulders of the Dominican applicant. The photo should be clear and in JPEG or PNG format. Other conditions to submit the photo in the Cambodia visa application must be met.
An email address
A working email address is required in order to receive the eVisa to Cambodia electronically. It is advised to print a copy of the Cambodia electronic visa in case an immigration official asks to see it when entering the country.
Other personal information
Personal details of the Dominican Republic traveler such as the applicant’s full name, passport number, and issue date, as well as previous visits to Cambodia, are some of the questions that will be asked.
Once all these documents are gathered and these conditions are met, nationals of the Dominican Republic can complete the Cambodian eVisa application form and pay the processing fee with a credit or debit card.
Cambodian e-Visa application for Dominican minors
Due to the rules and regulations set in place by the Cambodian government, all international minors traveling to Cambodia, including those from the Dominican Republic, must obtain their own personal visa.
That means no group or family applications can be requested, however, it is possible for the parent or guardian to apply on behalf of the minor.
How long does it take to get a Cambodia eVisa from the Dominican Republic?
The processing time of the electronic visa is very quick. Time varies, but it usually takes Dominican travelers a maximum of 3 business days to receive an approved electronic visa for Cambodia.
In order to allow for possible delays, petitioners of the eVisa may want to apply at least 4 days before their planned departure date to the Asian country.
Allotted stay in Cambodia with an e-Visa as Dominican
The Cambodian eVisa, also known as Tourist eVisa or T visa, allows its holder to stay in Cambodia for up to 30 consecutive days.
It is a single-entry permit with a 3-month validity since the date of approval. That means that the Dominican visitor must enter Cambodia within 3 months of approval and cannot stay in the country for over 30 consecutive days.
If the holidaymaker of the Dominican Republic needs to extend their stay, an extra 30 days can be added to their e-Visa, but the paperwork has to be completed once in Cambodia.
Cambodian Ports of Entry for eVisa Holders From the Dominican Republic
A Dominican visitor can enter Cambodia through the following international airports:
- Siem Reap
- Phnom Penh
If traveling by land, travelers from the Dominican Republic who hold an electronic visa can enter the country by using the checkpoints with neighboring Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos, namely: Cham Yeam, Poi Pet, Bavet, or Tropaeng Kreal.
Sea points are currently not authorized to receive foreigners traveling with an e-Visa.
Can Dominican Citizens Apply for a Visa On Arrival?
Yes, Dominican nationals can apply for a tourist visa once they land in Cambodia. This is known as the Cambodian visa on arrival and is an alternative to those with no internet access or who prefer not to use the electronic application.
Those interested in this option must be aware of the following:
- The Cambodia visa on arrival can only be paid in cash and the traveler may need to provide the exact change at the port of entry
- A copy of a passport-style photo will also be required. That is a clear picture displaying the head and shoulders of the applicant
- There are often long lines at the immigration desk when requesting a visa on arrival which means delays entering the country
For those DR nationals who need to stay in Cambodia for a long period of time or that would like to visit the country for purposes other than tourism or business, the Asian country offers a number of other Cambodian visas designed for those with different travel needs.
Dominican visitors should make sure they are applying for the right type of visa before traveling to Cambodia, otherwise, they risk being denied entry into the country.
